Way more personal than I expected
I bought this for my brother because he loves escape rooms and little mystery things. He figured out what was happening about three pages in and started laughing. It felt very specific to him, which is exactly what I wanted.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
That first laugh is exactly what we hope for. So glad it felt personal.
Good gift for someone hard to buy for
My dad is impossible to shop for. This worked.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
Hard-to-buy-for dads are our favorite challenge. Happy this one worked.
The evil mode is actually evil
I picked the hardest option as a joke. It was maybe too much of a joke. My husband is still looking for his name, so I guess it worked. I probably should have chosen the middle setting, but also it is funny watching him refuse to give up.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
Evil mode can be a lot. We love that he refused to give up.
Nice print quality
The cover looked sharper than I thought it would.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
Really glad the cover made a good first impression.
A quiet little hit at Christmas
This got passed around after dinner. Everyone wanted to try finding the hidden name, even people who normally don't care about puzzles. It was nice because it did not need a big explanation or app or anything. You just open the book and start looking.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
That sounds like such a nice after-dinner moment. Thank you for sharing it.
Simple idea, really well done
Simple idea, but that is kind of the charm.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
That's the charm we were aiming for. Simple, personal, and fun.
Took a little explaining
My mum did not understand the idea at first, but once she found her name on the first page she was into it. I would maybe include a clearer note with the gift next time. After that first page though, she completely got it and started checking every grid like it was a newspaper puzzle.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
That is helpful feedback on the note. We are glad it clicked once she started.
Great for puzzle people
My girlfriend does word searches when she wants to switch off. This made the whole thing feel less random and more like something made for her. She noticed the cover first, then the hidden-name thing a minute later, which was a fun little two-stage reaction.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
We love that little second reveal when the hidden-name idea lands.
The personalization is the best part
Cute gift without being cheesy.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
That is a lovely way to put it. Cute without the extra cheese.
Surprisingly addictive
I ordered it for my niece and ended up doing a few pages myself before wrapping it. Not my proudest moment, but there we are. The repeated letters make it weirdly hypnotic.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
A few pre-wrapping pages is completely understandable.
Looks premium
The design has a nice mystery-book feel. It didn't look like something I made in five minutes online, which is always the danger with personalized gifts. The person I gave it to assumed I found it in a small bookstore, so that is a win.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
That small-bookstore comparison made our day. Thank you.
Fun, but choose the page count wisely
I went with the bigger version and it is genuinely a lot of puzzles.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
Fair warning well taken. The bigger book is genuinely a bigger mission.
Birthday gift landed perfectly
My friend likes detective novels, so this was right in the pocket. He sent me a photo when he found the first hidden name. Then another one ten minutes later. Then one more the next morning. So yes, he liked it.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
Those photo updates are the best kind of review. Sounds like it landed beautifully.
Made my son feel like the main character
He is eight and kept saying he was the suspect.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
That is adorable. Being the suspect should feel a little dramatic.
Better than another mug
I needed a small but thoughtful anniversary extra. This was much more memorable than the usual safe gifts. It is not a huge dramatic present, but it has that nice feeling of being made for one specific person.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
We will proudly take 'better than another mug.' Glad it felt thoughtful.
Quite a clever idea
It sounds almost too simple when you describe it, but when you see the pages it clicks.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
Exactly. It is one of those ideas that makes more sense once it is in your hands.
Good quality, shipping took a bit
The book itself was great. It arrived later than I hoped, but it was still in time and the personalization was correct. I was nervous because it was for a party, but it made it.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
We are sorry for the shipping stress, and very glad it arrived in time.
Exactly the kind of weird gift I wanted
Not weird in a bad way. Just not another candle or socks.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
The good kind of weird is very much what we are going for.
Harder than it looks
I thought I would fly through it. Nope.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
They can be sneakier than expected. Glad it gave you a proper challenge.
Lovely for a retirement gift
We made one for a colleague who does puzzles every morning. It felt personal without being too sentimental, and the office all signed the inside cover. She noticed the name on the cover immediately, but the bigger reaction came when someone pointed out that the puzzles were built around it too.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
What a lovely retirement gift idea. The signed inside cover sounds perfect.
Solid coffee table puzzle
It sits out in our living room and guests keep picking it up.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
We love hearing that guests keep picking it up. That is exactly the vibe.
I wish I ordered hardcover
The softcover is nice, but after seeing it I kind of regret not upgrading. The idea feels gift-y enough that hardcover would have suited it. That is on me, not the book.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
Totally fair. Softcover is nice, but hardcover does make it feel extra gift-worthy.
My grandma loved it
She does word searches every week and immediately understood the assignment. She called me the next day to tell me she found her name six times. Very wholesome, honestly.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
This is so wholesome. Please tell your grandma we are impressed.
A proper personalized gift
A lot of personalized stuff just slaps a name on the front. This actually uses the name in the whole book, which makes a big difference. It feels like the personalization is the point, not an afterthought.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
That means a lot. We really wanted the personalization to run through the whole book.
Fun reveal moment
I did not tell my partner what was special about it.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
Not telling them first is such a good way to give it.
Clean printing and nice colors
No complaints. The cover colors were rich, the pages were easy to read, and the name was spelled right everywhere. I checked because I am that person.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
We appreciate a careful spelling check. Personalization has to be right.
Cute and a little challenging
I got the middle difficulty and it was a good balance.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
That is great to hear. Middle difficulty is meant to feel fun without being too easy.
Feels like a small mystery
The case file framing makes it more fun than a normal word search book. It gives you a reason to keep turning pages. I bought it as a novelty, but it has more replay value than I expected.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
We are happy it had more staying power than expected.
Great reaction
My daughter thought it was hilarious that she was the suspect.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
That reaction sounds fantastic. Kids make the best suspects.
Would buy again
I got one for Secret Santa and it was the gift people talked about most. Ordering another for a birthday soon. The best part was that it worked for the whole group for a few minutes, not just the person opening it.
Reply from Enigma Cabinet
That is wonderful to hear. We love when the gift becomes part of the group for a bit.
